Reporters recently learned from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, in recent years, China’s new display industry continues to run out of the ”acceleration”, step on the ”new level”, display panel annual production capacity reached 200 million square meters, the industry scale jumped to the world’s first.
China’s new display industry maintains rapid growth, and the scale of industrial revenue has repeatedly set new records. According to the statistics of the LCD Branch of China Optical Optoelectronics Industry Association, in 2021, the output value of China’s display industry is about 586.8 billion yuan, an increase of nearly 8 times compared with 10 years ago. Display panel shipments totaled 160 million square meters, an increase of more than seven times over 10 years ago. The industrial scale and display panel shipment area in the global market accounted for 36.9% and 63.3% respectively, becoming the world’s first.
China’s annual output of display panels will reach 200 million square meters in 2022, accounting for about 60% of the world’s total, according to a report titled ”Insight into the Development status and Trend of China’s New Display Industry” released at the 2022 World Display Industry Conference, which opened in Chengdu not long ago. In 2021, the industry revenue exceeded 580 billion yuan, accounting for 36.9% of the global market share. From the perspective of regional distribution, the Pearl River Delta region has the largest production capacity at present, more than 100 million square meters, China has become a ”screen production country”.
The new display is boosting the realization of intelligent scenes at home, vehicle, cultural education, medical and other tracks. The application scenario changes from individual to group, from one-way output information to intelligent interactive service. “Building advanced manufacturing cluster with international competitiveness” has become an important direction of our new display industry. At present, a number of new display industry clusters have been formed in Chengdu, Hefei, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Wuhan and other cities.
In the aspect of display special materials, our new display special materials, the local output value increases year by year, the current market share is about 30%, among which, liquid crystal, materials, optical mode, target material and so on have a certain scale, photoengraving and other aspects need to be strengthened, substrate materials and so on there is still a big gap.
Officials from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said that next, we will continue to improve the resilience of the industrial chain and supply chain, make every effort to overcome the key core technologies of the new display industry, strengthen the deep integration with artificial intelligence, VR/AR, big data, the Internet of Things and other digital technologies, deepen international exchanges and cooperation, and promote China’s new display industry to the middle and high end of the value chain.
