South Korean Media Chosun Biz has reported that Boe is preparing to produce five-size OLED TV panels ranging from 55 inches to 95 inches.
The company already makes OLED panels for smartphones. Considering the huge market potential of OLED TV, JD decided to expand OLED production to TV applications.
Jingdongfang will build a pilot production line of OLED TV panels in north China 8 generation line and plan to ship about 300,000 pieces in 2022.
Jd.com showed the 95-inch 8K OLED panel on SID 2022 May 10-12. The panel is based on a white OLED manufacturing process with a maximum brightness of 800nits and a refresh rate of 120Hz.
LG Display currently accounts for most of the global supply of OLED TV panels, while Samsung Display started producing qd-OLED panels for tvs in early 2022.
Some in the industry believe LG Display's global market share could fall by more than 10 percentage points if 360buy shipped more than 1M OLED TV panels a year.
